Cloud-Native Usage-Based Billing Platform
As an early engineer on a greenfield billing platform, Ishan contributed to a cloud-native usage-based
billing system delivered from concept to production in six months. The work covered REST APIs,
Kafka-driven pipelines, Java and Spring Boot services, AWS infrastructure, Kubernetes deployments,
Terraform automation, observability, merchant-facing API documentation, and usage aggregation patterns
designed for high-volume billing workloads.
- Role
- Early engineering contributor across service, platform, and API surfaces.
- Artifacts
- REST APIs, Kafka event flows, Spring Boot services, Kubernetes workloads, Terraform modules, runbooks, and API docs.
- Evidence signal
- Greenfield cloud-native billing platform delivered in six months; designed for 100K+ TPS ingestion and aggregation workloads.
- Helped establish a scalable billing foundation for enterprise merchant use cases.
- Balanced synchronous APIs with asynchronous event pipelines for reliability and scale.
- Improved operational readiness through OpenTelemetry, Splunk, Datadog, CloudWatch, CI/CD, and infrastructure automation.

Marketplace Inventory Platform
Ishan helped build a foundational marketplace inventory platform supporting unified inventory visibility
across owned and third-party marketplace inventory. The work used Aurora/Postgres, Debezium, Kafka,
streaming projections, low-latency APIs, and event-driven architecture patterns for inventory lifecycle
state and availability.
- Role
- Backend engineer for inventory state, event modeling, projection logic, and API integration.
- Artifacts
- Inventory event contracts, CDC flows, streaming projections, persistence design, and service APIs.
- Evidence signal
- Foundational platform work connecting owned and marketplace inventory availability patterns, including reverse logistics support.
- Supported accurate marketplace inventory availability.
- Improved real-time visibility across inventory lifecycle states.
- Created reusable event-driven patterns for downstream availability and decisioning systems.

Oracle RMS CDC to Kafka for Cost Accounting
Ishan built high-throughput CDC and Kafka pipelines to stream inventory and cost-related events from
Oracle RMS systems into downstream financial and analytical platforms. The work included schema design,
partitioning, ordering, idempotency, history replay, state stores, and event contracts supporting
item-level cost, stock-on-hand visibility, invoice-level analysis, and stock ledger transactions.
- Role
- Streaming data engineer for source capture, topic design, replay behavior, and consumer contracts.
- Artifacts
- CDC pipeline design, Kafka schemas, partitioning strategy, idempotency handling, state stores, and replay support.
- Evidence signal
- Finance-facing data movement from legacy retail systems into event-driven analytical workflows.
- Improved near-real-time cost and inventory visibility.
- Supported finance and accounting reconciliation workflows.
- Reduced reliance on delayed batch-style processing patterns and supported lower-lag downstream consumption.

Fulfillment Allocation Optimization
Ishan contributed to fulfillment allocation optimization systems that balanced speed, cost, and customer
proximity. He built service layers, enrichment logic, experimentation workflows, and production controls
to support model comparison and rollout while collaborating with data science, finance, supply chain,
and engineering partners.
- Role
- Service engineer translating optimization outputs into controlled production decisioning paths.
- Artifacts
- Decision services, enrichment logic, Optimizely experiments, historical testing support, rollout safeguards, and fallback behavior.
- Evidence signal
- Cross-functional optimization work spanning engineering, data science, finance, and supply chain, with measurable fulfillment efficiency goals.
- Helped move fulfillment decisioning beyond simple distance-based heuristics.
- Supported experimentation-driven rollout and fallback strategies.
- Improved operational control over fulfillment routing decisions.

Security Intelligence Search and Analytics Platform
Ishan worked on a security intelligence platform for real-time anomaly detection, intrusion monitoring,
and search-driven investigations. He built data pipelines using Kafka and Redis, indexed enriched data
into Solr, implemented DSL operators for analyst search workflows, and improved Solr performance through
tuning, sharding, routing, and high-availability design.
- Role
- Platform engineer for ingestion, enrichment, indexing, analyst query behavior, and search reliability.
- Artifacts
- Kafka pipelines, Redis-backed processing, Solr indexing strategy, DSL operators, and high-availability search design.
- Evidence signal
- Security analytics infrastructure supporting high-volume event search, including 500K events per second indexing and 95% uptime targets.
- Improved Solr search performance by 2x through tuning, document routing, and implicit sharding.
- Supported large-scale event indexing and security analytics.
- Strengthened reliability of high-throughput search infrastructure.
